i gotta find some way to make the a/c in the loft much more effective than it is.

    Two simple suggestions that may help.

    1. Insulate the flexible heat exit thing better. You can get something at home depot, maybe something 1 inch thick, like the stuff you can put on a water heater or maybe something for large pipes.

    2. The attic part behind your loft, is there a window in it? Or any kind of opening? if so try and put a fan blowing out in there to vent some of the hot air from that adjacent space.
