that’s great, what are the pros and cons?
It’s mostly pretty pro, actually. Good rapport with the agent, we have similar ideas about how to market/sell the book, she’s really into it and has pretty ambitious plans, and she’s got a relatively small group of clients (meaning I should get a fair amount of attention.
Only con, for some people, would be that she’s not based in NYC, where about 90% of the publishing world lives, eats, and sleeps. But I think that’s pretty easy to overcome. It’s not like we’re in the 18th century. She can contact the East coast easily.
Mostly, just taking a day or 2 to make sure I’m not signing an agent contract rashly. Also, have to let a couple other agents know about this, so they can give up on the book or whatever.
