celebrating the new year the way I always do, which is to say not at all.

out to see “Up in the Air” then staying the hell off the roads until all the drunks are passed out.

i wish i understood why strangers on the train think I’m approachable and/or interested in conversing with them. although now at least I’ve got a thorough breakdown on the differences between cops in every town in NJ.

Holy crap, Rudolph’s Shiny New Year is even worse than I would have thought after reading this incomprehensible description:

Father Time sends Santa a message telling him that the baby new year, Happy, is missing! And without the baby new year, it’ll remain the old year forever. But it’s foggy and snowing, so Rudolph’s the only reindeer for the job. Rudolph learns that Eon (ugly buzzard) is also searching for Happy, so that eon life will never end. With the help of 1 Million B.C. and Sir 1023, and 1776, Rudolph searches through the islands of the Archipelago of Last Year and races against eon to ensure a Happy New Year

good news: my car still works, despite having sat unmoved in my driveway since about 3 days before the snowstorm, and not having been shoveled out

better news: I learned this because I had to go to the bank to deposit my fantasy football winnings

more better news: I was also mailing out the final (for real, I think) edits of my book (the old one, not the new one)

bad news: in the interim, a big section of the siding on my house appears to have just fallen off. Next house will not be 90+ years old.

i kind of hate how the NFL has made it near-impossible for defenses to have a chance. They way they call games, every defense is at a severe disadvantage at all times– i kind of miss dominant defenses.

reading 5 books at a time. quickly.

Monday, December 28th, 2009

not a ton of writing done today, but still a successful day in that I overcame the crazy panic that ensued when it appeared that I’d somehow lost 80 pages of my book.

celebrating my impending fantasy football championship by having some cookies and milk.

In case you missed it, NFL.com had Brent Celek wired during last week’s game.
