well, good job, Republicans. Spend a year getting people as angry as possible, opposing a bill but never offering any alternatives besides rage, and now people are firing guns and making credible death threats.

Literally every time I read news out of DC, I’m disappointed.

(this is not about opposing the healthcare bill; it’s about intentionally lowering the level of discourse and steafastly refusing to ever offer any substantive ideas, so that idiotic and dangerous reactions became inevitable)

I agree. As far as I can tell the agenda I oppose will continue to get voted in, because the Republican party refuses to offer anything to oppose it.

Their arguments are always: “We agree there are problems but you go to far” or “Sure there are problems and you’re right we need to do something like this, but this costs too much.”

Not: “You are wrong because of X, Y or Z, and here is an alternative solution.”

The democrats represent a moderate socialism and the republicans represent nothing.

Yeah– any 3 year old can just scream “NO!” at everything then throw a tantrum when they don’t get their way. It’s a shame the Republican leadership hasn’t been willing/able to do any better than that.
