I’m on a mailing list for reporters looking for leads/quotes/ideas for stories– they send out queries saying things like “I’m looking for great Father’s Day gift ideas” and I respond by saying something like “hey, check out my book”– which means I get advance notice on stories and articles that are in the works. My two favorites today:

I guess I was never aware of the existence of the Center for Science in the Public Interest, but I think I’m going to spend a fair amount of time scouring the food sections of their website, which means you’re going to see a fair amount of links to it. hoping, for 100% selfish reasons, that the Stanley Cup is over in 5 games, because game 6 conflicts with my reading/signing thing at Borders.

pretty glad I never got hooked on “Lost.”

highlight of last night — seeing a guy who was a dead ringer for Rick “The Model” Martel (as I assume he would look now) sitting at the bar with a sweater tied around his neck. I did not take a picture, because I was afraid he’d put me in a Boston Crab.

looking forward to watching the Champions League final that I DVR-ed yesterday; fortunately, since we’re in America, it’s very easy to not learn the score of the game before watching.

thinking negative thoughts.

according to my summer plans, I should have read at least 4 books by now, and fixed about a dozen things in the house. Nothing completed.

1st reading went well– even made a few sales to people I didn’t know, which is nice.

this week’s run-in with an unleashed dog went okay, mostly, until my shorter, fatter, crazier dog tried to bite its face off. I think she’s getting even meaner as she gets older. Like Don Rickles, without the charm or sense of humor.

first negative press for the book: G Cobb thinks I’m a neanderthal.

Silver lining: he hasn’t actually read the book, or even the complete synopsis, so his criticisms mean less than nothing.

Negative: he’s got a very heavily trafficked site (at least locally) and he’s totally misrepresenting my book.
